Dr Murat Soncul is the Head of Privacy and Data Protection at the Central Digital and Data Office in the UK Government (Department for Science, Innovation and Technology). He previously worked in the same role in the Government Digital Service (GDS). He is also one of the alternate vice-Chairs of the Confidentiality Advisory Group at the Health Research Authority since 2012. Prior to joining the civil service, Murat worked as an oral surgeon and completed a doctorate in healthcare technology before undertaking a number of leadership roles in the NHS in London working on digital health transformation.
