Dr. Djalel Benbouzid

Djalel Benbouzid is an AI Senior Manager and Trustworthy AI Expert at the Volkswagen Group in Munich, Germany. With 13 years of experience, he specializes in Reinforcement Learning, Generative Models, and Trustworthy AI. Djalel holds a PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Paris-Saclay and maintains an active publication record in major AI conferences such as ICML, IROS, FAccT, and AIES. At Volkswagen, Djalel has been instrumental in formalizing a group-wide AI governance framework, planning EU AI Act compliance, and managing the ETAMI consortium on ethical and trustworthy AI. Previously, as a Machine Learning Research Scientist, he contributed to setting up the Machine Learning Research Lab and deployed generative models, including the Lure theatrical piece. A passionate advocate for ethical AI and effective AI governance, Djalel actively serves the community by co-organizing workshops, summer schools, and teaching advanced data science courses
