Principal, Public Policy Ofcom

Chia works in Ofcom’s Public Policy team, leading on Digital and the DRCF (Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum) for Ofcom. This means working across Ofcom on its digital priorities, including AI, Digital ID, smart data, the DMCC Act, and the DUA Bill, and how it works with other regulators their shared digital interests as well as engaging with Government and Parliament on these issues. Prior to this role, Chia was the DRCF’s first Head of Strategy, working to establish the DRCF in its first two years, and has held roles in Ofcom’s Strategy and Competition policy teams, as well as the European Commission in Brussels. Prior to working in regulatory policy, Chia worked in a technology start-up company in Australia as a design engineer. Chia has a MS in Regulation, a Diploma in Economics, and a BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
