Aarti leads field engineering (ML solutions engineering and applied ML) at Snorkel AI. Before joining Snorkel, she worked closely with Andrew Ng in various capacities — building and investing in ML startups at AI Fund, ML engineering at Landing AI, head TA for his deep learning class at Stanford, as well as research in his lab on ML for medical imaging. Most recently, she co-developed an updated version of Andrew Ng's popular ML course on Coursera (previously taken by 5 million people). Aarti earned a master's in Computer Science from Stanford and holds bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from NYU. During her academic career, she focused on machine learning applications in healthcare at David Sontag's lab at NYU (now at MIT) and interned at Microsoft Research with John Langford, contributing to the open-source project Vowpal Wabbit.
Women are under-represented at all levels in the technology sector. Particularly within leadership positions, where they represent only 24% of professionals. In the field of artificial intelligence, only 22% of professionals are women. Just 18% of authors at leading AI conferences are women.
